I personally never use Twitter… But I know plenty who do, and it’s obviously a useful tool for them.

However, I’ve heard that it’s a bit difficult to always keep updated with what’s going on. That’s why some good folks put together “TweetDeck”.

It’s also for MySpacers, Facebookers (As I like to call them, Facefuckers) and a host of other services.

Want a nice custom Dock for your PC?

Today, I’ll be introducing two docks. Rocket Dock (Windows) and Cairo Dock (Ubuntu). There are plenty more out there, but I feel that these two do “the best job” of being application docks, and not to mention they’re 110% free, no “free ware” version, just good, full, free software.

I’m sure many of you are familiar with Mac OS X’s dock? How would you like a customizable dock for your PC?

First up, Rocket Dock from Punk Software for Windows XP, Vista, 7. What’s there not to love about this nice little program? You can easily change themes, how it behaves and even minimize windows to it. It’s absolutely free and works like a charm on pretty much any computer.

Second up is Cairo Dock for Ubuntu. Now this dock is fast, looks good and easily customizable. I have it instead of a second bar on the bottom of the screen. I think it really rounds off the Ubuntu experience and adds a level of personal detail to your Ubuntu installation.

iTiVo: A Front end for your TiVo on the Mac

Here’s an interesting and open source piece of software.

From the website:

iTiVo is a Mac front-end to your Series 2, Series 3, and TiVoHD device. It will download shows to your mac, and convert them to many popular formats / devices.

Features include:

* Formats include h.264, mpeg-2, mpeg-1, decrypt-only.
* Target devices include iPhone, iPod, AppleTV, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PSP, youtube.
* ‘subscriptions’ to your regular shows: downloading them whenever new episodes are available.
* Automatically perform an ‘iTunes sync’ to your device when the download is completed.
* Automatically remove commercials from downloaded shows.
* Generate metadata appropriate for use by tools such as pyTivoX.
* Create subtitle files (.srt) from the closed caption info.
* Support for different encoders, including HandBrake, Mencoder, FFmpeg, ElGato Turbo.
* Full control over encoder options.
* A download queue for batch processing.

With appropriate configuration, you can plug in your iPhone to your computer to recharge overnight. In the morning, you will find all your favorite shows from your tivo loaded onto it.

Facebook on your Desktop

I for one don’t use any social networking utilities or messengers. I’ll try them out from time to time, but end up ditching them after about a week.

However, if I was to stick with an application, Fishbowl would be it. If I had a Facebook account, I’m sure I’d have found this little tool handy.

What it does, is start up a Microsoft Silverlight application which runs in a regular system window on your computer which connects to Facebook. Through this program, you can get updates, friend requests, post pictures and pretty much anything you’d do if you had your browser on Facebook.com itself.

Need 2gig storage space for free?

Who wouldn’t mind having 2GB’s online storage? Be it backing up some documents or just hosting some files, Dropbox can help.

First off, they offer a free 2GB storage plan, just download the drop box software (for both PC and Mac), install and follow the on screen guide. Within a minute or two, you’ll find a “My Drop Box” folder in “My Documents” (PC) where you can easily drag and drop files, just like any other folder on your computer. No need to open your browser to upload stuff!

Of course, if you need more then 2GB, it’ll cost ya. But their prices seem fair.

Bypass MegaVideo’s Time Limit and More!

If you’re like me, you aren’t the type of guy to dish out on a MegaVideo account just to watch some videos and movies.

Up til now, I’ve been refreshing my IP address to get past the annoying time limit on MegaVideo. But no more! Illimitux has the answer! Just add the MegaVideo URL to Illimitux’s website and it’ll remove the video time limit for you. Illimitux also has a nice Firefox plugin!

I’ve had several blogs over the past years. Some popular and some I really didn’t care much for and ended up closing down.

But over the past months, the recession has been hitting everyone, hard. And I thought to myself, “Why don’t I create a blog which blogs about free software and other cool internet stuff?” So, this is what came to mind. I spend some time cruising the internet and happen upon a lot of good deals, great free software and other fascinating net related stuff.

I’ll be posting all that here. Some of the posts will include:
